There's plenty to be thankful for this year, even in
these tumultuous times. In addition to all the
traditional stuff like family and good health, we
here at
Vinyl Fever are thankful that so much great music
keeps being created every year. We're thankful
that so
many of you still value the community experience
of
shopping in a well-stocked record store and that
you
enjoy owning a physical manifestation of your
favorite
music. We're thankful so many are re-
discovering or
finally discovering the joy of playing vinyl.
Records
rule! We're also thankful that so many fantastic
artists
have graced us with intimate live performances in our
store, basically playing in our living room. So
yeah,
it's Thanksgiving this week and we're thankful. And
thank you for supporting locally-owned and
operated
independent businesses like Vinyl Fever. It's a
big part of what
makes Tampa Tampa.
Vinyl Fever will be closed on Thanksgiving day. We'll
be here for you at 10am on Friday though!

YET ANOTHER FREE IN-STORE PERFORMANCE
Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion
They're playing a last minute gig at the Tampa UU
Dome on Friday night, November 30th and
stopping off at Vinyl Fever to treat us all, as well! We'll
have more details on the time next week, so keep an
eye on your Inbox...
Sarah Lee was two years old when she made her
singing debut as part of a children's chorus on her
father, Arlo's
1981 album, Power of Love, but she had little
subsequent interest in making music herself,
although she was surrounded by it. "I think it was in
me," she says, "but I wasn't ready for it." After
graduating from high school in 1997, Sarah Lee
agreed to tour-manage her father, who was emceeing
the Further Festival, on which members of the Grateful
Dead were joined by the Black Crowes. She got on so
well with the Crowes and Chris Robinson that, when
the tour ended, she made what proved to be a life-
altering decision: "I knew all these cool rock & roll
guys, so I decided to move to L.A."
Irion (eye-ree-un) came out of the vibrant Carolina
indie-rock scene
of the early '90s, first as a member of Queen Sarah
Saturday and later with Dillon Fence. He, too, got
friendly with Robinson while Dillon Fence was on the
road with the Crowes. Robinson convinced Irion to
come out to L.A. and join Freight Train, a band he was
producing. That was in the fall of '97, just after Sarah
Lee arrived in town. Whether by serendipity or cosmic
intervention, the two were on a collision course; they
met at an L.A. club and began dating a week later.
The rest, as they say, is history. (Musical partners -
Husband & Wife - two children )
There's a new album called Ex Tempore
described as "a varied yet cohesive collection
intermingling piano balladry, Americana, chamber pop
and folk-style fingerpicking, with the occasional blast
of skronky rock to clear the air."

NOVEMBER LISTENING POST FEATURES
Give us a Swim
Marissa Nadler - Songs III: Bird On The Water
... Songs III: Bird on the Water is among the most
arresting recordings of 2007 thus far and sets a new
high-water mark for this seemingly limitless
songwriter. - Allmusic.com
... Nadler's songs feature ghostly vocals, carefully
wrought lyrics, and subtle acoustic arrangements-
imagine Leonard Cohen singing soprano. - Filter
Magazine
... Nadler writes songs that spin tales of folklore and
witchcraft, and she performs them in a silken
soprano. - Interview Magazine
... one of the most focused and engaging singer-
songwriter releases so far this year. -
Pitchfork
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand
From its conceptual stages, the mere idea of Raising
Sand held infinite fascination for both its creators and
those around them. On the surface, Robert and
Alison have seemingly little in common, but a deeper
dig reveals an elemental understanding flowed
between them, waiting to be tapped...and this
collaboration has brought us to Raising
Sand.
Prefuse 73 - Preparations
By focusing on the foundation of his creative process
and less on the intricacies of his trademark editing
and chopping magic, Guillermo Scott Heron has
emerged with an album that will give fans a subtle
taste of every Prefuse 73 record that has come before
and will give the haters a deserved shake-up.
Jose Gonzalez - In Our Nature
NPR "Quietly powerful" Rolling Stone "Subtly
hypnotic"
José Gonzalez's sophomore album sees Jose
coming into his own as a songwriter, with songs that
are as instantly accessible as they are brimming with
darkness and brooding intensity.
Grizzly Bear - Friend
Friend is a testament to what Grizzly Bear has become
in its 3 year history - a well loved, sonically
adventurous and adaptable pop band, with honey-
sweet four part harmonies, and an unforgettable live
show.
