"The King is dead," said former Beatle John
Lennon. "But rock 'n' roll will never die. Long
live the King."

AUGUST FEATURES
on our listening posts-
Spoon *Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
This record starts with "Don't Make Me A Target",
a
song that builds on Spoon's familiar minimal rhythmic
piano/guitar vamp popularized on earlier hits
like "Small Stakes" or "The Way We Get By". The
album quickly moves into uncharted territory with the
atmospheric "The Ghost Of You Lingers" and moves
through several different stylistic changes from the
explosive "You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb" to the wall-of-
sound horns of radio single "The Underdog". Their
most heartfelt batch of songs since 2001's 'Girls Can
Tell'
The Chemical Brothers*We Are The
Night
Over a decade has passed since The Chemical
Brothers debut that ushered the crossover of
electronic music into the rock mainstream. The duo
are back to "Do It Again" with their astounding new
album titled 'We Are The Night'. The new
album
displays a myriad of sounds, sonics and grooves,
along with an astounding display of featured artists
including Fatlip of Pharcyde, Ali Love, Klaxons, Willy
Mason and Midlake.
Eastern Conference Champions
*Ameritown
Eastern Conference Champions hail from just
outside Philadelphia . The band members worked
together in construction and wrote songs at night for
their EP, released on Retone Records. When the
president of Geffen Records heard that EP, he signed
them. Eastern Conference
Champions have done a residency at the Silverlake
Lounge in LA, and have toured with bands like Black
Rebel Motorcycle Club, The View, and Silverchair.
Ministry *Rio Grande Dub
Fresh from the 13th Planet compound in El Paso, TX
comes the dance/club remix Rio Grande Dub (ya),
featuring double blast remixes of the 2006 Grammy-
nominated track "LiesLiesLies." Djs John Bechdel
(Fear Factory, Rpong, Ministry) and Clayton Worbeck
(Revolting Cocks) transform Ministry frontman Al
Jourgensen's tracks into a spellbinding genre-
bending trance-metal, politico-industrial masterpiece
of 11 remixes.
Modest Mouse* We Were Dead Before The
Ship Even Sank
The follow-up to the platinum-selling and Grammy(R)-
nominated 'Good News...' album, We Were Dead
Before The Ship Even Sank is a new chapter in
MODEST MOUSE's career with the infusion of
legendary Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.
