Daniel Lanois

With full band, Daniel Lanois played for more than an hour and 15 minutes (!) the day after opening for Dave Matthews at the Ford Ampitheater. Standouts included the Jimi Hendrix track "This Must Be Love" (previously recorded by Lanois on the Emmylou Harris CD, 'Wrecking Ball'), of course "The Maker" and Daniel's kind words about the importance of stores like ours in the music community. An especially special treat was the fact that the incomparable Brian Blade (Wayne Shorter) was on drums. They stayed afterwards until every last person was met, etc. We now have more stock on hand of the cd of out- takes and alternative cuts they were selling, too.

Drummer Brian Blade often plays with jazz giant Wayne Shorter as well as various Daniel Lanois projects. His joy of playing was matched only by our joy of listening (and seeing)!

Dan told us that Brian Eno gave him this gift 25 years ago.
