BECK - MODERN GUILT

Co-produced with Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton, Beck's Modern Guilt is a tightly assembled group of songs that range in lyrical tone from introspection and social commentary to off-the-cuff wordplay and lighthearted humor. Musically, the album's ten tracks vacillate between economy and experimentation, hybrid and pop classicism, while consistently manifesting Beck and Danger Mouse's shared interest in psych-rock, folk, electronic minimalism and orchestration. Initial copies come with a bonus 7" 45 of "Chemtrails" b/w the non-LP track "Vampire Voltage No. 6." CD now, vinyl due 7/22.

Long-awaited collaboration project between Jean Grae & 9th Wonder shows yet again that the South African-born Grae is among the most skilled wordsmiths in the game. 9th Wonder's lofty, loop-based production meshes perfectly with Jean's cadenced flow, while her intelligent rhymes put the average sex-obsessed female MC to shame.

ME FIRST & THE GIMME GIMMES - HAVE ANOTHER BALL

In order to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of their debut album, the Gimmes are releasing the second installment of recordings from the original Have A Ball sessions. The wildly popular Have A Ball was initially recorded as a double-album, but the band decided that a two-disc extravaganza might be too much rock for the uninitiated masses. So here's another album's worth of kooky covers just waiting to be devoured by fans old and new.

WILLIE NELSON & WYNTON MARSALIS - TWO MEN WITH THE BLUES

Live document of a summit meeting between two American music icons discovering common ground in their love for jazz standards and the blues. Their performance stirred the sounds of New Orleans, Nashville, Austin and New York City into a brilliantly programmed mix that is equal parts down-home and cosmopolitan, with plenty of swing and just a touch of melancholy. Wynton rarely sounds so relaxed and both of these musical giants are clearly having the time of their lives on these new interpretations of some of the greatest songs of the 20th century. CD now, vinyl soon.

ALKALINE TRIO - AGONY & IRONY

COLDPLAY - VIVA LA VIDA OR DEATH AND ALL HIS FRIENDS

Coldplay is one of the biggest bands in the world, having sold 32.5 million albums worldwide, with their last album X&Y selling over 10 million. Now the band Rolling Stone once named the ''biggest rock band of the year'' is ready to take the world by storm once again as they release their highly-anticipated fourth studio album Viva La Vida or DeathAnd All His Friends. The album comprises 10 brand new tracks, recorded in London, Barcelona and New York with producers Brian Eno and Markus Dravs.

TING TINGS - WE STARTED NOTHING

We Started Nothing is the debut album from The Ting Tings. Tipped in the top three of the BBC's Sound of 2008 poll, seemingly they have much to prove. However, The Ting Tings aren't about proving themselves; they are simply here to enjoy it. Making great British pop music - their way - is what they're about. Born of a desire to employ the DIY ethic from day one - Katie White and Jules De Martino escaped the industry trappings they once experienced in a previous band and went back to basics as a duo. They stripped back everything they thought they both knew about making music and the industry that revolved around every note. We Started Something is pure garage-pop and will embed into your subconscious for many days, weeks and months to come.

FLEET FOXES - FLEET FOXES

Drawing influence from the traditions of folk music, pop, choral music and gospel, sacred harp singing, West Coast music, traditional music from Ireland to Japan, film scores, and their NW peers, Fleet Foxes ranges in subject matter from the natural world and familial bonds to bygone loves and stone cold graves. Robin Pecknold is in Fleet Foxes: “All we strove for with this record was to make something that was an honest reflection of who we are, citizens of the western United States who love all kinds of music and above all else love singing…” And we believe them

LADYTRON - VELOCIFERO

Four albums in, and it’s quite clear that Liverpool’s Ladytron are not susceptible to the dancefloor’s flightier urges. Like its predecessors, Velocifero is electro-pop to the core, a sparking circuit of cold emotions and enveloping synths that despite its remove--or perhaps because of it--feels the perfect vehicle for some genuinely affecting pop songs. Boasting additional production work from Nine Inch Nails’ Alessandro Cortini and Vicarious Bliss of notorious Parisian imprint Ed Banger, there is a certain robust quality of sound here: "Black Cat", sung by Mira Aroyo in her native Bulgarian, commences with booming drums and big black smears of synthesiser. But there are signs of a certain playfulness, too. "Ghosts" rides a lolloping glam beat that positions it in the area of Goldfrapp’s Black Cherry, Helena Marnie’s cool, mysterious vocal recalling Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadler in its veiled promise: "There's a ghost in me/who wants to say I'm sorry/doesn't mean I'm sorry". The Aroyo-sung "Kletva", meanwhile, is a cover of the theme from an old Bulgarian children’s TV program, performed with an uncharacteristic jaunt that, while relatively alien to Ladytron, actually works rather nicely.

LIL WAYNE - THE CARTER III

Cash Money/Universal Motown Records multi-platinum artist Lil Wayne is once again taking control of the airwaves and breaking records in both with "Lollipop," the first single from his highly anticipated album Tha Carter III. This is the biggest add week that a hip-hop artist has received at Rhythm Crossover and the biggest any artist has received at Urban Radio including Beyonce and Mariah.

MY MORNING JACKET - EVIL URGES

There's a theme of moral confusion that runs through the whole record," says Jim James, frontman of My Morning Jacket, explaining the title of the band's new album, Evil Urges. "The World today is such a confused place. Things that people think are good values are obviously twisted, but there are other things considered evil that obviously aren't. There is real evil out there, but Evil Urges is about how all of these things that you've been told are evil really aren't, unless they're actually hurting something or somebody." It's ambitious territory for the group's fifth full-lenght studio album, and it's matched by the most far-ranging, surprising, and satisfying sounds of their career.

CONTROL

Ian Curtis is a quiet and rather sad lad who works for an employment agency and sings in a band called Warsaw. He meets a girl named Debbie whom he promptly marries and his band, of which the name in the meantime has been changed to Joy Division, gets more and more successful. Even though Debbie and he become parents, their relationship is going downhill rapidly and Ian starts an affair with Belgium Annik whom he met after one of the gigs and he's almost never at home. Ian also suffers from epilepsy and has no-good medication for it. He doesn't know how to handle the feelings he has for Debbie and Annik and the pressure the popularity of Joy Division and the energy performing costs him.

$23.99

FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS - FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS

This acclaimed Kiwi novelty band follow the release of their six-track Grammy Award-winning CD EP "The Distant Future" with their full-length debut. Features fully fleshed-out and professionally recorded versions of the duo's concerts and TV favorites. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement's trademark acoustic guitars lead the blitz, backed by a diverse array of instrumentation and production technique. If amazing, delightful, and hilarious is your idea of funny, then prepare for undisappointment. These fifteen songs pay homage to Pet Shop Boys, censorship, Marvin Gaye, sexism, Shabba Ranks, and backhanded compliments.

$14.99

JOY DIVISION (DOCUMENTARY)

The English rock band known as Joy Division came to a tragic end in 1980 when vocalist Ian Curtis committed suicide, its surviving members reforming as the group New Order. This engaging documentary chronicles Joy Division's success and influence from its formation in 1976 to the eve of their planned American tour, when Curtis's death became an unfortunate addition to the mythology of post punk rock.

MUSE - H.A.A.R.P.

The fan base for Muse grows with every release. 2006 s Black Holes And Revelations broke into the U.S. Top 10 while hitting #1 in the U.K. and much of Europe, where it sold 1 million copies and was #3 on NME's Albums Of The Year list. A multiple BRIT Award winner for Best Live Act,
Muse then staged two massive sold-out performances at 90,000-seat Wembley Stadium in London last June, which increasingly are recognised as amongst the definitive live moments of the year. The best performances from those concerts, as well as bonus backstage footage, are presented on the CD/DVD set HAARP. The concerts once again demonstrated the raw power and unquenchable ambition of one of the UK's most successful long-term bands and one of, if not the, greatest, most ambitious live act in the world at the present time.

$18.99

$15.99

FLOBOTS - FIGHT WITH TOOLS

Formed as a cohesive alternative organism in 2005, the FLOBOTS `good-fight' mythology can be traced via Denver's underground vines and creative community of the late `90s when various members enlivened each others' gigs and creative events, setting the charge that would eventually power up the band's contagious and rollicking rock/rap pedigree. Their rousing live show, seasoned by classically trained viola player Mackenzie Robert's innovative playing, sparked an impressive undertow of across-the-board support (including both coasts and off-the-grid territories such as Nebraska and Utah) as the group honed its glowing activist edge with a refreshingly positive message and bristling musicianship. The prescient "Handlebars," currently holding down a coveted `Top request' slot at several key radio stations as well as being the Most Added at Alternative Radio, has placed FLOBOTS among the most buzzed-about newcomers in rock and rap circles. "'Handlebars' was written in the same way the group kind of blossomed," says Jonny 5. "I had a friend a few years ago who asked me if I ever tried to ride my bike with no handlebars. I hadn't, so I tried it. Got to thinking about all the other things I could do - we could do. The song came so fast to me I actually called my mom's answering machine to record the lyrics and make sure I got it all down. Of course it's also about how even our best intentions are laden with some sort of opposite. We like to think that FLOBOTS are about directing that positive energy into real change."

$11.99

HOT CHIP - MADE IN THE DARK

Made In The Dark is Hot Chip's third full-length release and the follow up to their critically acclaimed album The Warning. This new installment shows Hot Chip at its best-
wonderfully quirky, clever, soulful and poppy. The sound of the band has evolved towards a wilder, heavier electronics, though still coupled with a signature pop aesthetic.
This tougher sound is no more evident than on the single Shake A Fist which created a massive stir when it crept out at the end of 2007 on a limited etched 12". Ready
For The Floor and One Pure Thought add pure, unadulterated head rush pop into the mix. Made In The Dark also shows that the band is equally at home creating songs
of intimacy and melancholy as they were dancefloor fillers.
The band come together with Owen Clarke's signature guitar and keyboard riffs, Al Doyle's high caliber musicianship and Felix Martin's programming skills combined
with the considerable talents of Joe Goddard and Alexis Taylor in a way making the songs even more propulsive, repetitive, rhythmical, methodical, wonky, intimate and
beautiful than before.

$14.99

NADA SURF - LUCKY

Consistent: That’s the word that best describes the discography of New York’s Nada Surf, the jingle-jangle pop trio now in its second decade. With heavenly harmonies and swollen choruses, the band can always be counted on to deliver an album’s worth of hummable, single-worthy melodies. With lyrics that are pointed, yet restrained, the music--often acoustically driven but electrically charged--is the message. Songs like "See These Bones" (a Teenage Fanclub knock-off featuring Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard), the optimistic "I Like What You Say," the louder "Weightless," and especially "Ice on the Wing" are the brand of pop cut that takes merely a couple listens to feel like it's been in the listening arsenal for years. Even the more somber tracks are buoyed by tranquil instrumentation or, on the heartrending closer, "The Film Did Not Go ‘Round," by the backing vocals of the underrated Lianne Smith.

$13.99

PORTISHEAD - THIRD

Portishead's Third has been a long time coming, the result of a lengthy creative torpor following 1997's dark, distinctly underrated album Portishead. Importantly, though, they've shaken it. While the core trio of Beth Gibbons, Geoff Barrow, and Adrian Utley remains, this is quite a different band to Portishead's 90s incarnation: gone is the slo-mo turntable scratching and smoky jazz feel, replaced by heavy, brooding rhythms, vintage-sounding electronics, and spindly guitar. Still present, though, is that sense of emotional fracture and deep gloom. "Silence" opens with a dense drum loop which suddenly falls away to reveal Gibbons' voice, cold but magnificent: "Wounded and afraid, inside my head/Falling through changes". "Nylon Smile", meanwhile, is a fine example of Third's occasional folksy edge, an acoustic song reminiscent of Leonard Cohen that, around its midpoint, lifts off on a propulsive electronic rhythm, Gibbons holding one clear, hard note as synthesisers bubble beneath. At times, it's a harsh and foreboding listen: the electronic drums of "Machine Gun" might put off the listener hoping for smooth dinner party fare. But Third is a brave and forward-thinking return, and one great enough to justify its lengthy gestation.

$14.99

PRESETS - APOCALYPSO

The Presets are a Sydney-based electronic duo, consisting of Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes. In September 2005 they released their debut album, Beams, to positive critical response. That same year Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes also toured with The Dissociatives, which is co-fronted by Daniel Johns of Silverchair and Australian dance producer Paul Mac. Johns also played guitar on Presets single "Cookie". Hamilton and Moyes are also members of Sydney instrumental group Prop.

THE BLACK ANGELS - DIRECTIONS TO SEE A GHOST

The Black Angels are back with Directions To See A Ghost, the second full-length album from Austin s darkest droners. With tidal rhythms and rasping epics, Directions To See A Ghost is a driving, psychedelic masterpiece that churns through the album s 72 minutes and 11 tracks. This highly anticipated follow-up to the band s 2006 critically acclaimed debut will leave listeners buzzing.

$11.99

THE BLACK KEYS - ATTACK & RELEASE

On Attack and Release, Danger Mouse is more creative co- conspirator than traditional figure behind the boards. He doesn’t radically alter the duo ’s sound so much as coax out more of its inherent soulfulness, groove and bittersweet emotion. Two versions of 'Remember When' illustrate how the duo can swing easily from smoldering ballad to thrashing rocker. 'I’ m more pleased with the sound of this record than any one we’v e ever made,' says Carney, and Auerbach concurs: 'We never let it all go l ike we did for this one, anything was game. It was just fun to make, and that’s why I t hink it’s so successful.'
